Weekly NY Seikatsu and JAVA (Japanese American Veterans’ Association) published articles about the Fred Korematsu Day of Civil Liberties and the Constitutions featuring exclusive interview with Tak Furumoto. Tak also talks about new development on the Fred Korematsu Day recognition in the State of New Jersey.

Fred Korematsu Day was started 10 years ago in California, where Fred Korematsu was born. In the borough of Fort Lee, New Jersey, we are celebrating the second anniversary of Fred Korematsu Day on January 30th this year. Without Tak and Carol Furumoto’s initiative and support from mayor Sokolich and the political leader of Fort Lee, this event was never possible. Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, this second anniversary event was showcased as a pre-recorded video on YouTube. We have received very warm congratulations and video letters from many government officials, the Consul General of Japan in New York, and the Japanese American community.
