Our Company
Furumoto Realty is a Japanese American Real Estate Company established in 1974 with offices in Manhattan, White Plains in Westchester County and Fort Lee, New Jersey. We deal in rental, sales and property management. We have 50 licensed staff including part time staff in State of New York and New Jersey. As Furumoto Realty grows in the years to come, our main emphasis will continue to be a strong and unswerving commitment to customize service and a dedication to achieving complete satisfaction for each client.
Tak Furumoto
1. Born in 1944. Tule Lake Concentration Camp. Newell, California.
2. Released from the Concentration Camp in December, 1945.
3. Moved to Nishihara, Hiroshima, Japan. Lived from January 1946 to May 1956.
4. Finished 5th Grade at Gion Elementary Schhol.
5. Returned to the United States, May 1956.
6. Lived in South Central LA. Graduated from Vermont Avenue Elementary School, June 1957.
7. Briefly lived in NYC from May, 1959 to August 1959. Attended Joan of Arc Junior High School—May and June 1959.
8. Moved back to South Central Los Angeles on September 1959. Lived there until February 1968.
9. Graduated from Audubon Junior High School, June 1960.
10. Graduated from Mt. Carmel High School, June, 1963.
11. Graduated from UCLA on December 1967. BS Degree from Anderson School of Business.
12. Volunteered in the United States Army on February 1968.
13. Graduated from Engineering Officer Candidate school on February 1969 commissioned as a Military Intelligence Officer.
14. Sent to Vietnam in February 1970 as an Military Intelligence Officer.
15. Stationed at Duc Hue District, Hau Nghia Province—adjacent to Cambodian Border.
16. Decorated Bronze Star Medal on January of 1971.
17. Honorably discharged from the United States Army on February, 1971.
18. Returned to South Central Los Angeles until, May, 1971.
19. Moved to Fort Lee NJ on May, 1971.
20. Worked for Mikasa, Chinaware from June 1971 to March 1972. I was terminated due to PTSD.
21. On January, 30, 1972, I married, Carolyn Namie Yokotake.
22. Next year, marks our Golden Year Anniversary.
23. Carolyn nursed and supported me for many years during my difficult years with PTSD and exposure to Agent Orange .
24. Started Furumoto Realty on June of 1974, together with Carolyn. My sister Mary also helped to build the business until April of 2001, she passed away.
25. On April 29th, 2000, Carolyn and I were awarded Man and Woman of the Year from Fort Lee Chamber of Commerce.
26. On April, 6, 2010, received NJ Distinguished Service Medal ( NJ’s highest Military Medal),
Congressional Recognition Award,
& NJ Vietnam Commemoration Medal.
27. On February 12, 2015, Carolyn and I received “Key” to the Borough of Fort Lee presented by Mayor & Council, got the services to the community.
28. Currently, we have offices in Fort Lee, Manhattan and Tarrytown, Westchester.
29. Currently, I am a Board member of JAA of NY,
Honorary Chairman and Founder of NY Hiroshima-Kai, Life member of JAVA, Japanese American Veteran’s Association, Fort Lee VFW, Fort Lee Chamber of Commerce, one of the Founder of Japan History Council of New York, one of the Founder of JAREC ( Japanese American Real Estate Club.
